Options Pane

Configuration Details

The Options Pane is a modeless version of the options dialog of other editors. (Note: all configuration options are in the process of being migrated to this pane. All editor settings will be configured here in the near future).

Parts of the Options Pane

1. Toolbar

2. Property Grid

3. Help/Description Text

4. Options Group Tree

All configuration settings are organized into groups. Each group contains related properties which are further organized into categories.

Clicking on an option group will display the properties for that group. Some groups do not have any properties and will display a blank property grid if selected.

5. Property Name Column

6. Property Value Column

The property values can contain an arbitrary number of nested or compound values. Compound values can be expanded to show individual component values by clicking on the + symbol beside the property name.

Toolbar

  1. Show/Hide Property Group Tree.
  2. Open Option Menu. Displays the options menu which allows saving/loading of color schemes and selecting a color scheme from the recent color scheme list.
  3. Save Options. Saves the current options and clears the revert buffer. Any changes made will be committed and not revertable.
  4. Show Categorized. Show properties grouped by categories.
  5. Show Sorted/Unsorted. Show properties sorted by name, or unsorted but without grouping categories by properties.
  6. Show/Hide Help text
  7. Show Advanced Options. When depressed will display all the options available. If not selected all options deemed advanced are not displayed.
  8. Revert to Saved. This will undo all the changes made since the last Save Options button press.

Since it is not a modal dialog it has no OK, Apply or Cancel buttons. Instead all changes are immediately applied and their effect visible. All changes will be saved on application exit or when the "Save Options" button is pressed. Instead of the Apply button there is a "Save Options" button which commits all changes. All changes made since the "Save Changes" button was pressed can be undone via the "Revert To Saved" button, this is similar to "Cancel".

Keep in mind that save and revert apply to all changes, not just the currently displayed ones. So feel free to browse around the option groups and play with the settings. Unless you press Save all changes will be undone with a single click on "Revert to Saved".

Option Groups

Settings are grouped onto option groups and selecting a group will display all the categories and properties contained by that group.
